DJ Frank3000 is one of our most popular DJs who is a favourite amongst corporate and private clients. We had a chat with DJ Frank3000 to find out more about his background.
Is there a story behind your DJ name?
I originally went with Frankmmvp (Musics Most Valuable Player) but it someone else had it and it was a bit too long. So I stuck with Frank3000 as it’s unique and a nod to Andre3000.
How would you describe your musical style?
Open-format, I play every genre and style of music.
What is your current favourite DJ performance equipment?
The controller I use at the moment is Pioneer DDJ SX2.
What got you into DJing?
My natural love for music drew me into DJing.
Which well-known DJs’ style do you most reflect?
I love the style of DJ Jazzy Jeff and how he mixes so many songs in a quick way.
Tell us about your all-time favourite artist
Dr Dre – he’s a producer/rapper who can take any sample or beat and make it into a hit!
What do you remember about your first ever gig?
I was so nervous, I really wanted to make sure people were going to like my set.
What was your best ever gig and why?
I had an amazing gig at BPM in Birmingham, I played a set which really showed the depth of my musical knowledge. It was mostly a crowd of other DJs who can normally be tough to please but I got great feedback.
What has been your most ridiculous DJ request to date?
I try to be as accommodating as possible, but one night I was asked to play the same track 3 times in a row.
What has been your worst gig and what happened?
My laptop failed to work and I didn’t bring my back-up so I had to go old school and use CDs. It was a nightmare but I’ve learnt from my mistakes and always have a second laptop on standby!
What one useful tip would you give to anyone looking to book a DJ for their event?
A useful tip is to make sure the DJ is given enough information in terms of crowd, type of music required, size of the venue etc.
What is your definition of a DJ in 2019?
Someone who can read the crowd and take them on a musical journey!
