Meet LIFELIKE, one of the latest additions to our “Legendary” DJ roster. As a pioneer of Nu-Disco sound, in the mid-90s he was welcomed with open arms into the so-called “French Touch” family – a term coined to describe the distinctive spin French DJs and producers lent to house music at this time – comprising Parisian artists such as Daft Punk, Air and Cassius. “Family” traits include those instantly recognisable robotic vocals, disco samples and heavy filter and phaser effects.
A favourite of BBC Radio One’s Pete Tong and Annie Mac, Lifelike has been called “a master of crafting credible dance floor beats.” His productions represent a sexy and seamless fusion between nu-disco, new wave and funk.
His biggest hits include “Discopolis”, which was a massive club hit internationally, “So Electric” “Sequencer”, “Love Emulator” and, more recently, “Dont Stop, featuring A-Trak”.
As a remixer, record companies quickly clocked on to Lifelike’s innate talent for turning a track into a dance floor hit, and it wasn’t long before the artist was approached by artists including Sia, Empire Of The Sun and Moby for collaborations.
