DJ Dozzer - Storm DJs London

DJ Name
Dozzer

Style(s)
House/EDM

Current Favourite DJ Performance Equipment
Really boring but still love playing off my CDJs

What got you into DJing?
Listening to Judge Jules on a Friday night on Radio 1 way back when… then after buying some old crappy turntables I was hooked.

Which big name DJs’ style do you most reflect?
House wise Prok & fitch, Mark Knight, sonny fodera and MK, for EDM Steve Aoki, Axwell & Ingrosso, Laidback Luke

Do you remember your first ever gig?
A dirty, horrible club in Newport and everyone kept asking me for RnB, I had about 30 CDs with me full of Electro House and Trance. I wasn’t asked back.

Tell us about your all-time favourite artists.
Judge Jules because he got me into the dance music scene and made me want to go to Ibiza and embrace the culture. I would spend all my student loan grants buying white label records he had played on his shows and would spend hours trying to find track listings to find out what the songs were called (this was around the time the internet was taking off). Performance-wise too many to mention but the highlights have been Deadmau5, Steve Angello, Guetta, Steve Aoki all at the warehouse project and Martin Garrix, Nervo, Jaguar Skills and Hot since 82 at Creamfields.

What has been your most ridiculous DJ request to date?
A hen night had spent the day practising dance moves to Thriller so in the night they requested the song in order to perform the dance but they were so drunk they kept messing up and re requesting the song (You don’t mess with Hen Nights).

How do you think DJ technology will change into the future?
I think the scale of production at events will get bigger and bigger which will lead to DJ playing fewer small intimate shows.

What was your worst gig and why?
A wedding where the venue had a volume limited. If the volume went to high the music would cut out, unfortunately this was set so low the music was drained out by people talking, Being the DJ I took all the flack and abuse that the music was too quiet.

What was your best ever gig and why?
Don’t have a favourite, any gig where everyone is loving the tunes and having a good time is a favourite gig.

Do you think we will see DJ robots soon?
More than likely, but you can never take away the ability to natural have a song pop into you head that is off the scale and left field but you know will raise the rook. I have previously dropped Bob Marley – could you be loved during a EDM set.

Do any ‘star’ DJs get on your nerves?
Deadmau5, love his work and performances but he seems to hate everyone involved in the scene.

Your best ever YouTube clip
[responsive_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7u7IKJWgeQ&feature=youtu.be”]  Just because I was there with my 2 best mates loving life.

What one useful tip would you give to the layman looking to book a DJ for their event?
Ensure the DJ you book is for the whole party not just for your musical tastes.
